Today is a very unusual day. It happens to be palm Sunday. We get to stay home to watch Conference because It came too late in the night last weekend but since we saw them, we get to do a repeat. We also went to have dinner at Haynie's and the area Presidency. It was a nice day to just be home and relax.
What I love about getting together with people as that we joke around and laugh and just relax for a change. The Area Presidency and the DTA deal with so much stress and pressure on a daily basis between their work lives, and home family and community responsibilities. It is an opportunity to put your anxieties aside and do soothing totally meaningless and goofy that just makes you laugh! They were teasing Elder Haynie about his hair cut. I recently read: "silliness induces laughter. Laughter is considered "natures's medicine." So what are some of the proven benefits?
•Laughter triggers the release of endorphines – the body’s
natural ‘feel good’ hormones.
•Laughter relaxes the
body and relieves tension.
•Laughter boosts the
immune system by decreasing stress hormones and increasing immune cells and
disease and infection-fighting antibodies.
•Laughter protects
your heart by improving the function of blood vessels and increasing blood
flow, both of which can help protect you from heart problems. So, duh! What we all need is a little more SILLY and A LOT
more laughter in our lives.
