In Memory

In the US this weekend people  celebrate Memorial Day. It's the day we remember those men and women who died in the military. It has also become a day to honor those who were near and dear to our hearts that have passed on.

I remember going to visit the graves of people like Ada Rich, George and Blake.  We would place place flowers, or flags on their graves to remember them during this holiday to show respect and appreciation. It was hard to drive by a cemetery during this holiday as you saw the flowers and flags everywhere across the cemetery. It's heartwarming to see the outpouring of love and it's sad at the same time to think of how missed those loves one are.

I have a friend and former neighbor, Laurie Fox who's son served in the military and died during an accident while he was in training. What a tragedy this was for the Fox family. My deepest appreciation for this brave young man and for those they leave behind to mourn.

We all experience the death of a loved one sooner or later. Today we learned of a passing of Elder Bowen's grandchild. I can only imagine the sadness these sweet family must be experiencing. Our thought and prayers are with them and with those out there who are mourning the loss of a loved one.

The nice thing about Memorial Day is that it causes us to reflect on the amazing people who have given so much to protect our land and it is also the time when we remember our dear loved ones who have passed on. Today I thought about my grandmother Hilda who would have turned 92 today. Happy birthday mami Hilda. I do miss you and hope you are celebrating your day with mami Tonita, papi Carlos, tio Julio, Julito and tio Carlos.

Con amor,

Vero
