Three years ago, I was eating lunch with Daniel at my favorite restaurant in Manila when he received a text with the news of President Monson’s passing. I remember the funeral of President Monson. He was one of my heroes and one who has inspired me and the world. President Monson spent his life in the service of others and growing up, he was one of my favorite speakers. I loved to hear him tell so many stories and most of all, I loved the way he lived his life; always engaged in serving others. He was a generous and kind man who truly loved the Lord which was evidence by the way he lived his life. I could go on and on about this great man and the stories of how he impacted my life and the example he set, but instead I will simply share just a few favorite quotes from talks he has given over the years that have inspired my life.
“Life’s journey is not traveled on a freeway devoid of obstacles, pitfalls and snares. Rather, it is a pathway marked by forks and turnings. Decisions are constantly before us. To make them wisely, courage is needed: the courage to say no, the courage to say yes. Decisions do determine destiny.”

President Monson truly was someone who inspired me. He led an exemplary life and I am forever grateful for the impact he has had on me. To remember him I am going to read the book “Teachings of Thomas S. Monson” We received as a gift.
