Special stake conference for the Caribbean

Today was the stake conference for the Caribbean Saints (members). We listened to it in English at Piantini ward unfortunately the internet was slow and intermittent.  However we knew there was not much anyone could do so we were patient. Elder Andersen spoke first and talked about having faith. He said:  "To have the kind of faith that Lehi had... no doubting and totally trusting in the Lord... In  the scriptures we find that the disciples did not doubt about Jesus, they doubted themselves... There is power in His atonement. (Moroni 7) If ye have faith in me ye can  do many things... We need to resign our will to His... Faith without work is dead. We must work to accomplish his desire, we work because that is how we grow... Magnify your callings... We would have obtain "the promised land" ...The constant companion of the Holy Ghost is persistent... He will never abandon you and he will never forget you. He has an eternal love for you and all of his children."

After his remarks we listed to sister Oscarson: Her talk was about the family. She said: " Have faith t
o have the goal to be an ideal family...1) keep the law of chastity. Be clean, live to live all the standards found in the for the strength of youth standards, 2) Look for righteous families around you, observe how those families treat each other, set the  temple for your life, marrying in the temple is the best way to start a family. At that point the internet went out and couldn't hear anything :(

Elder Holland followed her with his topic on stand on holy places. He started by saying: " We live on troubled times, whatever challenges is only the gospel of Jesus Christ which will bring hope... stand in holy places... let your  hears be comforted and be not moved, be not troubled... There are three sanctuaries where we can feel the love of our Heavenly Father. The home...the love there that we cherish in a place for refuge, strive that the spirit of the Lord will be there, never curse or swear, be prayerful, read the scriptures together, Husbands and wife remain loving each other, Parents, be patient with your children...make your home the center of the gospel universe...Next the Meeting houses: where we worship build by sacred tithes...keep your Sabbath day holy... Teach your children the law of tithing...and all the resources we obtain from it...third, the Temple: 144 houses of the Lord are in operation around the world... We love home and family, He is the center of our lives...Whoever you are live the teachings of the gospel that should be our way...come follow me... what seek thee, what do you want? He will say, come to me, learn of me, follow me...we do that in he home, the meeting house and in the temple. Beginning with our baptism we testify that he is the only source of eternal life, keep the commandments. Think and feel the spiritual strength of the Lord...be not troubled but stand in holy places.

Lastly elder Packer spoke on controlling your thoughts: He started by saying how much he has enjoyed visiting Latin America for the past 60 years. Made an impression on using the delete button when a bad thought enters our mind. " you have to learn to control your thoughts, When those impression come you delete it from your mind...we live in a very dangerous world...if the adversary can destroy the family, he will win...The rock of our redeemer is Christ...He is our salvation and always remember Him... we come with our own testimony which is Jesus Christ...God lives! I know that he directs his Church but we need to know that for ourselves. This is what I will focus this year

One: I will have more faith and I will let the Lord be in charge.
Two: I will keep my covenants and do those things that will help my family become even better.
Three: I will stand in holy places by attending the temple every week and as a  temple worker.
Four: I will not allowed bad thoughts to enter my mind, if they do, I will delete them. Amen
