Dinner date with Bishop Waddell

From time to time we get to host dinners at our home with visitors from Utah. Today was our day to host one. It was a wrap up working dinner with Bishop Waddell and company. Bishop Waddell came here with a team of five people to help Launched and to announce the new structural changes taking place in the office ASAP so it was an important day for Daniel.

The menu consisted of salmon, rice, lo main, asparagus, toss salad, caprice salad, fruit, bread and dessert. There was enough food to feed an Army but what I loved the most about this dinner was not necessarily the food but the spiritual nourishment. There was a clear sweet spirit felt as everyone commented on how deeply committed our employees are to the cause and how open they are to new ideas and changes because big changes are coming.

Since it was Monday and you typically have something for Family Home Evening I had a massage for everyone to take home known as “The Parable of the Spoon.” This is the third time I do this activity because I like the message. This is the story:

There were two doors, inside the first one, in the middle of the room, was a large round table with a large pot of stew. It smelled delicious but he people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appear to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles and because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not reach the spoons back into their mouth.

In contrast, behind the second door, the room appeared exactly the same. There was the large round table with the large pot of wonderful stew that made the man’s mouth water. The people had the same long=handled spoons, but they were nourished and plump, laughing and talking.
The man said, “I don’t understand.”
God smiled. “It is simple,” He said, Love only requires one skill. These people learned early to feed one another. Those who are hungry are greedy people, and they think only of themselves.

And that is how we ended our dinner with this reminder and a wooden spoon with a long handle for each to take home. As I mentioned before, today was a day to remember as Daniel explained what is going to change in the next two months with a kick off meeting at the office this morning and I heard he did fabulous as always!

With love
