Take time out!

Today we were invited to a surprised birthday party for Sister Crockett. She is the cutest, most loving woman you could ever meet and so fun to talk to. She is truly a ray of sunshine. Her sweet husband planned a little fun get together with cake and pizza  at the office.

Sometimes we get so caught up in doing “stuff” that we forget to take time to have a little fun in life. Between work, children, cleaning the house, community involvement, doing laundry, church responsibilities, etc, etc, etc, we simply don’t take a break and have a good time. The employees who came to wish her a happy birthday got a real treat as they saw the expression on her face when she came into the room and we all yelled SURPRISE!!!

We started singing happy birthday in English and Tagalog. A cake was displayed with candles for her to blow immediately as she walked into the room. The party turned out fantastic and we were able to spend time with dear friends who are serving in the Philippines who made the party truly enjoyable. It was a fabulously fun party and I was truly grateful that I had that "time out" from normal life to have some fun.

Today I was reminded how amazing it feels to step away from everyday duties and just enjoy a little party at the office. I could tell that many people working had let life go far too long without having a “fun break”! Don't get so caught up in doing everyday things that you forget to laugh and smile and play a little. It is good for your heart and it is good for your soul.

After going to the birthday party and seeing people so happy, I have to tell all of you that I highly recommend that you all find a way to get out and just have some FUN in your life this weekend. It is amazing how invigoration it can be to just remember what it is like to have fun in your life.

Whether its seeing a good movie, hanging out with friends, going out to dinner, enjoying a concert – whatever it is that makes you laugh and smile and feel happy – get out and and do it! You need that time to just have FUN!

Monday is a Holiday here in the Philippines so it will be a fun long weekend Yay!

Con amor,
Vero
