Nixon is turning twelve

Today is my grandson’s 12th birthday. With those beautiful and expressive eyes,

I think he is going to be a heart throb with the girls. His mom has always called him little man but more a more he is becoming a gentleman. (This poem was sent home by my grandson’s teacher and I second every word it says)

To Nixon

(And to every parent/teacher/grandparent/aunt/uncle/older sibling)
There are little eyes upon you,
And they are watching night and day;

There are little ears that quickly
Take in every word you say.
There are little hands all eager
To do everything you do;
and a little child who's dreaming
Of the day they’ll be like you.
You're the little child’s idol;
You're the wisest of the wise;
In their little mind, about you
No suspicions ever rise.
They believe in you devotedly,
Holds that all you say and do,
They will say and do in your way
When they’ve grown up like you.
There's a wide-eyed little child
Who believes you're always right;
And their ears are always open,
And they watch day and night.
You are setting an example
Every day in all you do;
For the little child who's waiting
To grow up to be just like you.
