Mission Presidents Seminar Oct. 28-31

The Mission President Seminar started by attending the temple on Tuesday morning after that we had a nice lunch in the cafeteria and took a picture of the group. Left to Casa de Campo. At Casa de Campo riding with the President Douglas and his wife we chatted for those two hours and got to know each other better.  We begun our first session at 5:pm that afternoon where the introduction of the theme for this year was revealed. "The Missionary Purpose is Building up the Lord's Church." by elder Evans of the Seventy who oversees the Missionary Executive Council. He lived in Korea and Japan. His wife made the introduction and all she said was He loves to be a dad and grandfather and loves Lake Powell. Elder Evans told us how there are 406 missions and every mission has being asked to begin with the end in mind: temples! One of the comments he made was " We need to keep our wells filled with spiritual waters... We get our spiritual water by reading the scriptures...If you have not read the book of Mormon. Read it! If you need to know if it is true, find out! How long should you read it? read it long enough so you may feel the spirit of the Lord, than read it a little more. " Among other things he mentioned how we are hastening the work and we need to be part of that hastening or we will delayed the work. It is up to us.

The next day we started at 8:30 am with a break at noon ending at 5:pm followed by a one hour trip to Altos de Chavon. Only the few couples who had never been there wanted to go. The rest wanted to have free time. At night we ate at the Casita Restaurant in the marina. On Wednesday and Thursday we also started at 8:30 to 5:00 pm with a nice luncheon at noon except that on Thursday we  had the sisters meeting separated from the husbands and what a treat this was! The last day on Friday we ended the seminar with a testimony meeting after we heard the last remarks from elder Evans. he told us he had an emergency call from elder Nelson and had to quickly rapt up to go home. We took the  Mehrs  home with us and this was nice because we got a chance to meet them a little better. He is a General Contractor and lives in Highland. We found out that his son Matt introduced Sydney to Pablo and various other things. He was married to his first wife who died of cancer and has explained to the group how it felt to be so alone and  how he needed to be married again. I am going to be posting things during this month of November related to all these amazing seminars. I am going to two other seminars this month.
