Just ask!

In our D & C discussion of section 51-57 this week we studied about the law of consecration and how we all need to take care of each other. I learned that all we have comes from God and we are only the steward of what has been given us.

In section 53 we were introduced to Sidney Gilbert, the first DTA or a.k.a. Bishop’s agent. Sidney Gilbert approached the Lord with one simple question: What would you have me do? According to Ezra Taft Benson this is the most important question we need to ask in our lifetime.

Following his question, the Lord gave Sidney Gilbert a list of suggestions:

Forsake the world

Receive the Spirit

Be an agent unto the Church

Take your journey

Receive the ordinances

Labor in the Vineyard

Learn

Endure to the end

Although they were suggestion directed to answer a personal question of one individual the counsel is applicable to all of us. It is counsel that we can learn from and follow. However, that is not the only thing we learn in this section. The most important lesson we learn is that the Lord will answer our individual questions. If we turn to the Lord and ask in sincere prayer what He would have us do, He will answer but we first need to find some quiet time and just ask.

Con amor,

Vero
