A Saturday like today

August 10th2013 was an awesome day!

Six years ago, Mandy and Spencer said the most beautiful wedding vows and had the most beautiful wedding imaginable. On that day we were surrounded by family and friends, great food, fun music, and plenty of dancing into the night.  We ended the reception by running through a tunnel lined with people holding sparklers. It was a fairy tale wedding.

One of the unique things about their wedding was that they actually had two wedding ceremonies. Let me explain:  In our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) we get married in the temple where the legal ceremony takes place as well as the sealing ceremony where our marriage is sealed for eternity (as opposed to be married till death do us part) but the rooms as small. The largest room can only accommodate between 20 to 50 people so many are left out from that special ceremony and there are those who do not have a temple recommend. You need to be a member of the Church to be invited to the temple so to alleviate any hurt feelings, those guests are invited to the ring ceremony.

We are probably the only people who do two ceremonies back to back and not only that, in other countries where the law only acknowledges civil marriages, we also have to do a third ceremony prior to the other two to be in compliance with the law. This is why some people say that their wedding lasted for three days.

All weddings no matter how big or small are viewed as fairy tale weddings by the participants and Mandy and Spencer’s wedding was no different. What I love about weddings is how many people from both sides of the family come together to celebrate the union of their children even when the parents are divorced.

We couldn’t have been so lucky to have such a beautiful Summer day six years ago and
we couldn’t have asked for a more amazing family to join in with ours so cheers to Mandy and Spencer!

Con amor,
Vero
