Laughing so hard, I cried.

Today was Jen's turn to host the ladies luncheon. It was wonderful. She showed us how to make the best Chinese food. Her parents are from China and Taiwan but she was raised in New York. Married to an American husband. She told us, they had tried very hard for years to have a baby and finally they were able to have a beautiful baby boy. The question we discussed today was what food did we learn to make as a child or what is our favorite food as a child? mine was pupusas, of course! Now the best part of this luncheon is that on the way home Elaine, Nuri and I got a ride from Jill Kimball so we decided to tell funny car stories.

They were all so funny that we laugh so hard! Jill told a story walking in to a nice Hotel in paper bags as luggage and Nuria trying to fit in a limo but ending up in a van due to too much luggage. We were having so much fun that when we got home, Jill remembered she had forgotten to pick up her daughter Anna at school and that was no laughing matter. We quickly got out of the car as soon as we could. This only proves we were having such good time!!

We’ve all heard the saying that Laughter is the Best Medicine, an article by Melinda Smith MA, and Jeanne Segal, PhD “Laughter is the best medicine” says it better than me.

“Humor is infectious. The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than anything imaginable when laughter is shared, it binds people together and increases happiness and intimacy. Laughter also triggers healthy physical changes in the body. Humor and laughter strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress. Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free, and easy to use.

Laughter is a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and conflict. Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh. Humor lightens your burdens, inspires hopes, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded, focused, and alert.

With so much power to heal and renew, the ability to laugh easily and frequently is a tremendous resource for surmounting problems, enhancing your relationships, and supporting both physical and emotional health.” So there you have it from the experts!

Here are a few of the jokes I saw a blogger post the other day.

*When I die I want to be thrown out of a plane wearing a Superman costume.

*I was going to work-out, but then I realized….a nap isn’t going to take itself

*No matter how bad your day seems, just remember that someone out there has to clean the bathroom at Taco Bell.

*Closing all your internet windows before your boss gets to your desk is like trying to get the right key in the door before the killer gets you.

*That awkward moment when you realize someone was actually home the whole time you were singing at the top of your lungs.

*I hate when people see me at the super market & they are like: “hey what are you doing here?” and I’m just like: “Oh you know, hunting elephants.”

*Getting a Diet Coke with your Big Mac and large fries just makes you look stupid.

*That moment when your friend forgot to log off facebook

*If you say “gullible” slowly it sounds like “oranges”

*My daughter wanted a Cinderella-themed party, so I invited all her friends over and made them clean my house.

*“Awesome” ends in “me”….coincidence?  I think not.

Remember to laugh out loud several times a day….because apparently a laugh a day keeps the Doctor away!” Amy

I know for a fact that people who are always optimistic and happy are more pleasant to be around. Laughter is as beneficial a medicine.  And without the crazy side effects! So go out with your friends and think of a funny story to tell.
