We found the perfect home, Almost!

Nothing feels worse than a let down. We went to the same building where the area Presidency lives to look at an apartment.  I don't like old buildings but is where the Area Presidency lives. The apartment is on the 12 floor. I like that better than the 2nd floor when we saw one a week earlier. We would have been the first ones who would have rented the apartment because the family who has owned it just moved out and left it in excellent condition. It was an apartment owned by a wealth family. It was their home. Impecable and beautiful so beautiful that they even left the beautiful chandeliers and all the furniture. This is a furnished apartment.

The apartment is twice as big than the rest of the apartments except for the penthouse.  They are asking the same for that unit than the much smaller units in that building. We went to one on the second floor that was old and ugly for the same price. This family doesn't care about the money, they just want good people renting their unit. There was a misspelled amount put on the newspaper add and that is why they are honoring the low price. I thought it was a miracle. The elevator even opens to the apartment with a special key. It includes four car garages and a lot of storage. It is a four bedroom apartment and those bedrooms are large!

The place felt perfect until Daniel decided to ask elder Ardern, the Area President, to take a look at it since he lives there and at first he said it was fine but later he sent Daniel a letter explaining that it was probably too luxurious and grandiose of a place and would send the wrong message.

So here is the story, we are willing to pay a lot more $$$ renovating an old place so we don't send the wrong message? to me it is what $$ spend that matters.  We are willing to pay more money to renovate an old apartment so we don't sent the wrong message. It's like paying more money on a couch ticket than a first class ticket only because we care too much about what people might think but bottom line it doesn't make sense in the business world.

So we are going to probably rent something that the Church will have to spend considerable amount of money to bring it up to code and use a lot more resources just so we don't send the wrong message. Daniel will simply do what he has done always and that is to obey even when he doesn't agree. This to me is having a responsibility to do something such as getting settled in a home but not the authority to make decisions on your own and that is the most awkward position to be in.

I have to forget this ever happened and continue to keep my good spirits. What is important to me is not how luxurious your home is, or we would not spend the money on our Temples. What is important to me is the spirit that is there. No matter where we go, what I want in my home above all is to enjoy a good spirit.
