A Virtual Reunion

Thoughts on 137 days of quarantine.

Today we had the Area office devotional given by the director of Seminaries and Institutes. What an amazing time to be alive with technology that allows for our youth to continue to learn about the scriptures even when they cannot gather together in our meetinghouses. We are very grateful for the Book of Mormon videos, and for the Come Follow me curriculum. This is a new time, when teachers don’t need to do all the talking, because he said, teaching is not talking, teaching is: observing, listening, discerning, …and then talking.

This pandemic has given us time to study the scriptures as never before. Yesterday we were invited to participate in a zoom meeting with Uncle Franklin and all his missionaries from 30 years ago, including many from Central America, and others from Bolivia, Peru, the US, and even from Buenos Aires. He did a very good job gathering all his missionaries and their families to share the joy of “still being brothers and sisters in the Lord” as Alma and the sons of Mosiah (Alma 17:2.) What a sweet reunion it must feel when people are still faithful after all these years.

We need to make sure we take advantage of all these means the Lord is giving us to share the joy of His gospel among us and with others and gatherings via zooms is a great way of doing that.

Con amor,
Vero
