Pathway

Is there is something that Daniel and I am very excited about is the new Pathway initiative to educate those young minds in our Church to become self-reliant and be the best in their field! As a mother and grandmother that is all I hope for my children's future. For them to become self-reliant in every aspect of their lives. Not only in the physical aspect but also spiritually and Pathway is a good start!

Many young adults did not enter the halls of an American University because they did't have those resources available to them but now, they can obtain a diploma from the BYU Idaho by entering Pathway. Everyone is accepted even if you did't finish High School! Currently, there are 13,600 students around the world and it's about to open in the Philippines!

This is not your typical on line course because even though you are on your own for most of the time, you are required to meet once a week and you stay with the group you started. Kids get a fresh start and that is the part I love the most about Pathway so much that I will become a service Missionary. Yay!

The classes are designed for people who are working. In Pathway they will become more proficient with the English language needed in so many jobs. They don't need to be active in the Church to start but it is something that will help anyone build their own testimonies because the first objective of Pathway is to get the gospel into students hears, and every aspect of the program is designed to do just that. This will happen as the students attend weekly gatherings were they will receive religious instruction interwoven through the academic curriculum.

The very first class Pathway students take is called Life Skills. This class provides a road map to becoming self-reliant with the emphasis placed on time management and budgeting and many other excellent tools for young adults to begin charting their future and great reminders for our older students too. The program is design to stack up every knowledge and then keep continuing to a Bachelor's degree. Students go at their own pace but hopefully will finish within seven years. A regular bachelor takes four years attending full time. This is is done in a much shorter time during the evenings.

Pathway is also a leadership preparation tool as each student becomes a facilitator and is encourage to take the lead in a classroom setting. Pathway is also a social program as young adults are interacting with others. I hope every person out there who would like to try this program, find out more about it, get enrolled and just Do it!

Co amor,
Vero
