Tips for travel

I love to travel so here are some tips:

This summer will offer you more choices for more destinations at lower prices than last year, according to Expedia and Airlines Reporting Corporation. Follow these tips to make the most of every dollar:

Travel mid-week:
Your Sunday best: The best day to book a flight is Sunday, says the 2017 Global Air Travel Outlook report from Expedia and Airlines Reporting Corporation. For us this is easy because in the Philippines Sunday night happens to be our Monday morning.

Your Sunday worst: The most expensive day to take a flight is Sunday, about $30 more expensive than any other day, says CheapAir.com.

Don't wait for the weekend: Traveling on a Tuesday or Wednesday will save you about $60.

Summer's most expensive day: That will be July 9, a Sunday, of course, says CheapAir.com. and that is exactly the day we chose to go to Montevideo.

Must be 21: You'll get the best price if you book your flight at least 21 days in advance, says the 2017 Global Air Outlook. We went over and beyond on this one by purchasing our Christmas vacay 9 months in advance which is a little risky to do because what if we don’t get to go.

Weekends are over-rated: Traveling on a Tuesday or Wednesday will save you about $60.

Summer's cheapest day: That's June 6—a Tuesday—says CheapAir.com.

Temperatures, fares soar: July is the most expensive month of summer, 7% more than August. But too bad July is the only Month we could take our home leave this year.

Make the most of August and September: The cheapest days those months are August 22 and September 12.

OK, now that you know when to book and fly, what about where?
If you're like me, you'll choose "anywhere" and go with the cheapest appealing option: #Oslo2017. If you'd like a little more control, think Europe.
20-30% lower than 2016: Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, Prague and Reykjavik are down 20 to 30% and is due in part because of terrorism.
Save 42%: Zurich. But take a deep breath: Forbes named the Swiss city the No. 1 most expensive city in the world.
Into Africa: Africa may be the best travel bargain of 2017, travel experts say. Round-trip flights are down 11%, thanks to new airline routes and developing infrastructure. Morocco, Mozambique and destinations in South Africa as among the most affordable places to visit in the world, experts say.
Put it all together: Book your June 6 flight to Mozambique on a Sunday—and get it done by May 14 at the latest.
But the best kept secret is to have your daughter work for an airline because you get as many discounts as they do, if you don't believe me, ask the Allreds!

Con amor,
Vero
