Devotinal with Elder Holland

Today was the culminating event at the office for the devotional with Elder Holland. What a treat that was. We heard from all the five men there and sister Hallstrom but what was so impressive was our office choir. they sang I know that my redeemer lives so beautiful and Elder Holland loved it so much that he asked the choir to have them sing it one more time at the end.

Sister Hallstrom talked about a story Joseph Miller who shared a few bit of flour another brother needed and when he found out this brother had been praying to find something to feed his family, he was grateful to know how the Lord knows our needs even a simple person like this fellow. she said, the Lord is mindful of you.

Elder Zivic talked about the visit he had with the President of Dominican Republic and bore his testimony.

Elder Cornish told us that we as Latter-day Saints are the happiest people on earth and that we need to show our smiles.

Elder Hallstrom talked about the doctrine of Reverence and is more than been quiet. It is the kind of devotion and respect we show to a deity. To live a reverent life means to take seriously our callings.

Elder Holland talked about the importance of the temporal affairs and how they are interconnected with spiritual affairs. To work in the Church is a privilege and also a responsibility. We are responsible for everything we do and say out of our office because is like we have a sign on our forehead that reads, I represent the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also spoke some words in Spanish saying, that with the gospel we find peace, joy, light and hope. He told us several times how much he loves us and how our leaders are praying for us. There were some questions and answers and one thing I remember he explained that the only way to achieve eternal life was through the witstanding hardships as if they were necessary for our own salvation. He spoke of the heath of some of the Apostles and President Monson health. He also told us a little bit about the meeting he had the with President and how the holy ghost guided him with that visit and as he form the first stake in Jamaica as far as to who needed to be called to be the Stake President.
