The Story was all over the news

The first thing I did when I got home was to call people I knew from the media. The news director at the YSKL radio station didn’t have to look too hard because the story was all over the news. These were three Americans detained in El Salvador for supposedly committing serious crimes.

As I read the paper this were some of the stories printed:

San Salvador, El Salvador—Salvadoran police have arrested three U.S. bail bondsmen at the airport in San Salvador, alleging that the Americans posed as FBI agents in an attempt to abduct a Salvadoran citizen, Salvadoran authorities confirmed Sunday. The three men were arrested Saturday as they attempted to leave the country with J C Nerio and turn him over to authorities in Nevada, according to a news release from Salvadoran federal police. The U.S. Embassy in San Salvador confirmed the arrests and said the Americans were not employed by the FBI or any other government agency. An embassy official would not provide more information about the detainees.

U S agents violate Salvadoran Sovereignty
San Salvador, Oct 18 (Prensa Latina) Diverse Salvadoran organizations considered Tuesday that the attempt by three US agents to kidnap a Salvadoran citizen and take to the US is a severe violation of Salvadoran sovereignty.

This is a serious offence to the Salvadoran nation’s sovereign character,” said Edgardo Amaya of the Foundation for Study and Application law.

Last week, three US agents were arrested in the international airport of Comalapa, El Salvador, when they tried to illegally remove Salvadoran citizen J C Nerio, 55, who allegedly committed a sexual violation in the US state of Nevada.

The US agents, considered bounty hunters by the Salvadoran press employed by the private enterprise, Dirty Deeds Bail Bonds.

The US individuals claimed to be members of the US FBI Embassy in El Salvador denied this.

An anonymous source from the US Embassy stated that the US agents did not coordinate their actions with the Embassy.

Salvadoran FMLN deputy Hugo Martinez (National Liberation Farabundo Marti Front) asked for the case to be thoroughly investigated, and the full weight of the law applied to those responsible.

They didn’t do it by the book and that’s what they get.

To be continued...
