Today I atended the Damas Latinas luncheon where at the end of the meal they had a drawing and my number was selected. yes there were 70 women who came and they had 7 items to give away so one out of seven chances and I was one of those lucky ladies who won a prize. They were given away morrales made in Colombia.
I never win anything so today was my lucky day. A women I was sitting next to also won. She had just arrived from Spain and her mother was with her visiting so they both came to the luncheon. It was great because no one knew them and therefore no one sat by them but I did. I don't know anyone there either all that much.
It is interesting that there is almost nothing in common that I have with any of those women other than we speak Spanish, and we are here living in the Philippines as expats. That is all! However they are trying to form a group that is sustainable and that is a tricky thing to do because not too many are interested in getting involved. I am currently attending the month luncheons, and the cooking classes and once in a while I might go to one of their extra events. That is a lot to do in a month but I am willing to help them as much as I can.
