Perspective

Thoughts on our 43 days on quarantine.

Amazing to think that only a year ago, I was still living in the Philippines. A country of over 100 million people. I can't imagine what it would look like today in isolation. Here is what a friend wrote on Facebook on Perspective.

Perspective.

“A particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.”

One thing that this pandemic has taught me is perspective. Everyday I have the gift of waking up and determining MY mindset. How I am going to approach or react to my current situation?

Perspective.

We are in lock down. I have explained that before in previous posts. We leave for only essential items. The children can not leave. We can not go for walks in the neighborhood. We do not get to go for a run. There is no hiking or bike riding. Boating and golfing out of the picture.

Perspective.

What we do have. Sunshine. A beautiful home to shelter in place. Healthy bodies. Plenty of food on the shelves. Water to quench our thirst. Friends who lend a listening ear. Technology that keeps us close to loved ones far. Transportation for essential items. Pesos to purchase those essential items. A incredible company that makes it possible for my husband to work in South Korea, while locked down in the Philippines. Huge respect for world leaders and frontliners, navigating a global pandemic.

Perspective.

In many cases the Philippines is a no work, no pay society. Many can not safely shelter in place. They can not transport essential items. Many walk hours to find those essential items. There is no work. There is no pay. There is no food. Families are hungry.

Perspective.

Yet Filipinos smile. They give thanks. They praise God. What there is in the Philippines, is a common goal for a greater good.

Perspective.

Your situation may not be ideal to you. You may not agree with your “isolation guidelines” but trust me, it is ideal to someone, somewhere else, who does not have the same luxuries as you do.

Perspective.

Use yours for the greater good. Create joy. Be the light, then help others do the same.
